Edward Kuruvilla

Edward Kuruvilla’s practice covers all areas of dispute resolution. He regularly appears as Lead Counsel or Co-Counsel at all levels of Malaysian Courts including the Federal Court, the Court of Appeal, the High Court and the Special Commissioners of Income Tax (SCIT). Edward Kuruvilla often represents clients in international and domestic arbitrations under the ICC International Court of Arbitration, the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC) and the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC). In addition to his active dispute resolution practice, he renders legal advice to statutory bodies, the scope of advice usually focused on the interpretation of their relevant statutes and the exercise of their respective statutory functions.

An avid writer, Edward Kuruvilla works closely with various leading law publications as an author and contributor. His academic and scholarly articles have been published in print by The Law Review (Sweet & Maxwell, Thomson Reuters), the Malayan Law Journal (MLJ) and the Current Law Journal (CLJ). He is also a named contributor to the White Book on Malaysian Civil Procedure and the author of the 2019 Reissue of the Halsbury’s Laws of Malaysia Defamation Title (Volume 13(1)).

In his years of practice, Edward Kuruvilla has served and continues to serve on various committees under the Bar Council and the Kuala Lumpur Bar. Edward Kuruvilla has also been elected to serve as a Council Member of the Malaysian Institute of Arbitrators (MIArb) until 2022. He is an accredited Meditator with the Malaysian Mediation Centre.

Prior to founding Messrs. Kuruvilla, Yeoh & Benjamin, Edward Kuruvilla practiced in Messrs. Shook Lin & Bok, Messrs. Steven Thiru & Sudhar Partnership and Messrs. Christopher & Lee Ong (a Member Firm of the Rajah & Tann Asia Network).

Beyond the law, Edward Kuruvilla's interests include reading, running and music.
